Training

Training is a fundamental part of triathlon, so much that motivation sometimes gets blurred between training and competition. Do we train to compete, or compete to benchmark our training?...

Either way, two things are for sure. Training is easier and much more fun with a group, and advice from a coach or expert helps us achieve our goals, whether the goals are to do a sub nine hour Hawaii (yeah right...), or just to keep fit for life.

Please note that everyone and anyone is more than welcome to any of the WSTC training sessions, however only club members are insured during the actual session.

When: 6:00pm
Where: Altona Life Saving Club front entrance (Club Rooms)
Coach: Andy Sinclair

We do have spare wind trainers but if you could bring your own, it would be appreciated.

NOTE: Tuesdays some people are starting at 5:30pm to get in 90 minutes if you are interested but the normal 6pm start also applies.

Swimming [bay monday]

Note: Suspended until next triathlon season

Open Water Swimming
When: 5:30pm
Where: Williamstown Beach
Details: Each Monday evening during summer many of the club meet at Williamstown Beach (SLSA car park) for several laps around the yellow bouys



Club Run session

When: 8:00am
Where: Williamstown Beach
Details: Each Saturday morning during summer many of the club meet at Williamstown Beach (SLSA car park) for several laps around the yellow bouys followed by a run to the tide ball and back.



You Yangs Long Runs

There are 2 start times for a while.

7:30am (for those running at least 90 minutes)
8:00am (for those running at least 60 minutes)

Where we meet.

The end of Toynes Rd which runs off Youyangs Road.

Toynes Rd is a dirt track. You dive up it until you see all the cars parked.

ETPA Swimming at VU
A Triathlon Specific swim squad in Melbourne’s west. WSTC members can now swim at the discounted club rate of $10 per session, including pool entry. VU swim squad has been around since 2002 and has been part of developing some of Australia’s best Triathletes. The VU program is delivered by a gold level swim coach and overseen by ETPA head coach, Mat Tippett.
Time: 5:30am-7:00am
Location: Victoria University, Footscray Park Campus, Sports and Aquatic Centre
Cost: $10 for WSTC members, $12 for everyone else OR $115/month for unlimited sessions

Monday: Technique and Stroke Development
Wednesday: Volume
Friday: Speed
